Located in southern Siberia, Lake Baikal is the world’s most ancient freshwater lake, originating 20-25 million years ago, is home to some of the rarest species of animals and plants, and according to the lake’s official website, “is one of the clearest and purest bodies of water. In a good day you could see 40 meters into the lake.”
Lake Baikal has been featured on National Geographic several times, but a recent video is now shedding more light on the lake’s original beauty.
A man took video of his walk on the frozen lake. While it looks like he’s walking on water, or that the ice is not thick enough, he was certain it was safe enough to show the world what we’re missing.
It is pretty amazing!
