Nick’s Mix: This Vampire Doesn’t Suck

The benefit this weekend? It’s called a Mexican vampire, and it’s an alternative to a traditional Bloody Mary that you’re going to be glad you tried. So get your glassware of choice ready to go and follow along with part 2 of our 4-week series on tequila.

As always, the quality of the drink will vary with the quality of the tequila you are using. Watch Nick show you how it’s done, and then come back here for the recipe below here if you need it later.

Mexican Vampire

½ Pint of ice

1½ oz. Tequila

3 oz. Mexican Bloody Mary mix

1½ oz. Citrus soda

Pinch of Mexican chili powder

1 Lime

Start by filling your shaker about halfway with ice. Pour 1½ oz. tequila into the shaker. Pour in 3 oz. Mexican Bloody Mary mix. Next, slowly add about 1½ oz. of Sprite or your favorite citrus flavored soft drink to preserve the carbonation. Shake in a dash of Mexican chili powder. Start with Cover your shaker and give it a good shake. Prepare a wedge of freshly sliced lime and pour your drink into a pint glass. Garnish with the fresh lime wedge. Enjoy over brunch or with a hot plate of nachos.
